Home School Community Liaison
My name is Natalie and I am the Home School Community Liaison teacher here at Christ the King. I have been teaching in the Junior School for many years and I stepped into this role a couple of years ago.
I really love my job, where I work at building relationships between the school, the pupils, and their families. I also work with linking parents in with different agencies who can offer support or help at different times.
The goal of the HSCL teacher is to help children and parents get the best from their school experience. I can offer help to families with pupils who are coming into our school, or on the path to leaving to go on to second-level education. I run different educational programmes in the classes, such as “Book at Bedtime” for Infants, and “Maths Eyes” for 3rd and 4th Class. Families are encouraged to get involved in these fun programmes which frame school work and learning as positive, engaging experiences.
We are so lucky here in Cabra that we can avail of courses and classes for parents in all of the schools in our cluster, as well as programmes for the children delivered by Cabra SCP.
As we (hopefully) move to a post-Covid era, I am very much looking forward to hosting events such as Coffee Mornings for Parents, as well as various Arts and Crafts courses in the school once again. I am always looking for suggestions for classes and courses for parents that could be held in the school, please get in touch if you have any ideas!
